We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Young & Jessica Elliot and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jennifer & Jessica, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
Ultimately, we want people to remember us through the impact we make on youth crises through our jewelry. Of course we want people to remember us for our designs, but what we really want is for them to remember how our jewelry makes them feel. We want them to know our designs come from our passion for creativity and for children that don’t have the same chances in life. We want to be remembered as authentic givers who started an impact program before it was the “norm” to give back.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Our synergy as partners is what really sets us apart from others. You know the saying, two brains are better than one! We are truly a complimentary duo, yet a bit of yin yang at the same time. Our ability to come from different angles of the business with solutions together provides a more holistic approach. And it definitely helps that we adore each other! We have been colleagues and friends for over 15 years and you can see that come through our design and approach to our business. Our brand story is one of love and passion for what we do.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
These are some of our favorite things to do and places to go in LA!
We both love hiking and you can find us doing our morning hike together in the Hollywood Hills near Jessica’s house with our puppy mascot, Theo! When we have a little extra time together, we’ll hit Malibu Canyon for a hike.
One of our favorite beach spots is Paradise Cove because it’s mellow, convenient and kids can look at the tide pools while also having all the amenities with food and bathrooms.
For lunch, we like to grab some steamed crab on the Redondo Beach Pier or we’ll head over to the Brentwood Country Mart for BBQ in a basket!
Some other great things to do are head to the Art Walk in Downtown LA or if you have smaller kids, take them to Travel Town in Griffith Park!
Lastly, for drinks, we like to go to the Broken Shaker in the Freehand Hotel, which is walking distance from our office or sometimes we will head to Jessica’s sister’s bar called, Grain Whiskey Bar in Playa Provisions.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We dedicate our shoutout to our village of supporters, mentors, family and friends over the years! Between the two of us, we have worked with countless people who helped shape who we are as independent career driven women, mothers, friends and partners in crime. We would not be where we are without all of the mentors we’ve had over our time throughout this industry the last 20+ years.
